Product Details
Orbea understands the diverse needs of road cyclists, recognizing that a single bike can’t perfectly address every aspect of climbing, aerodynamics, or endurance. With this in mind, they’ve focused on “Praising The Light” with the new Orca, aiming to create an exceptional climbing machine. The seventh generation of the Orca is designed to excel in delivering a superior climbing experience through its efficient power transfer, nimble handling, effective vibration damping, and remarkably light weight.
This latest edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Orca model by optimizing the carbon frame construction. By minimizing overlaps in the carbon layup and refining the frame’s shape to avoid unnecessary weight, Orbea has achieved a highly efficient design. The meticulous frame shaping reduces excess epoxy and sharp edges that could add weight. Additionally, the bike’s weight is kept in check with carefully selected components, including Orbea’s OC Performance cockpit and new Oquo wheels. The finishing touches, including paint and frame hardware, are handled at Orbea’s headquarters in the Basque Country, ensuring precise control over the bike’s weight.
While the Orca prioritizes lightweight performance, it also delivers a remarkable riding experience. The frame’s stiffness-to-weight ratio is engineered for agile, responsive handling and quick acceleration. The geometry features slightly shorter chainstays for enhanced agility, rounder tube shapes to mitigate vibrations, and increased tire clearance to accommodate up to 32mm tires.
Although aerodynamics are not the primary focus, Orbea has not overlooked the benefits of aerodynamic optimization. The Orca incorporates aero-friendly features like Orbea’s “ICR” cable routing and a redesigned seat clamp mechanism to reduce drag without compromising weight or ride feel.
With a legacy of performance and design, the new Orca blends Orbea’s long-standing expertise with modern technology. Its sleek, minimalist design complements the advanced features of the M20i LTD version, which includes Orbea’s lightest "OMX" level carbon frame, a 12-speed Shimano Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, and Oquo Road Performance RP45LTD carbon wheels.
