Beautiful Bicycle - An All-Stealth BMC Teammachine

Written by Contender Staff, on May 24, 2021

You may not know this, but the BMC Teammachine is every bit the winner at the biggest stage as any other bike on the market. It is a go-to for some of the fastest athletes in the world who seek the ideal race bike who seek that just right combination of steady handling, snappy acceleration, and climbing ability. But for this rider who wanted a fun race bike that balances brute efficiency and all-day enjoyment, the Teammachine manages to do that just-right as well.

An All-Stealth BMC Teammachine

Stealth bikes like how this Teammachine was built tend to hid the details that make this bike unique, so we'll cover our bases here. This Teammachine frameset is actually the previous generation of the bike, but that's no bad thing, as it comes in at the same weight and with similar aerodynamic characteristics as the new bike.BMC Teammachine SLR01 - RED eTap AXS ENVE 45 - frame detailThe bars and stem setup are BMC's design, featuring internal cable routing from the stem into the frame, allowing for any handlebar to be used. The carbon seatpost too is designed by BMC, with a D-shaping in the name of improved flex where it matters most. Besides the internal cable routing, there's little in the name of aerodynamic design, but everything in the name of converting every bit of pedaling power to the ground.

The ENVE 45 wheelset is a go-to around these parts. It isn't purely for it being made just up the road in Ogden, Utah, but because they feel about as good as any other wheelset on the market. 45mm rim depth strikes a tidy balance between climbing ability and aerodynamic efficiency, but what we like is that the ride quality is right on point.BMC Teammachine SLR01 - RED eTap AXS ENVE 45 - ENVE rim detailSame applies to the Fizik Antares Adaptive saddle. It might look cool but many have found it to be the most comfortable version of the Antares saddle yet.

The Pirelli P Zero Race TLR tires have quickly become a favorite in the shop. They roll fast, grip well, and in our experience are relatively hard-wearing. Above else, they nicely match the character of the bike as a race-leaning tire that can be ridden all day.

This build came in neatly at 15.9 lbs without pedals. There might be lighter options but few strike the racey balance that makes the Teammachine a lustworthy option. BMC Teammachine SLR01 - RED eTap AXS ENVE 45 - Fizik Antares Adaptive R1 saddleComponents Spec

  • Bob,

thanks for reaching out regarding our BMC Teammachine build. This build weighed in at 15.9 lbs.

We unfortunately don’t have a 56cm size available, at least for the time being. For now, we have just the 58cm model found on our site.
I’ve sent an email your way with more information.
