Pinarello Dogma XC: An Olympic Worthy Beautiful Bicycle
Regarding new bikes and fresh bike tech, there is no better time to look than in an Olympic year. With the Summer Olympics coming up, we should see a mix of new models and special bikes for Olympic riders. In the mountain bike events, Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot are two riders favored for gold in Paris. Tom has already won gold in Japan, and Pauline has a plethora of World Cup and World Championship wins. Both riders ride for the Ineos Grenadiers trade teal aboard Pinarello bikes. The current Pinarello colorway celebrates Tom Piddock being the reigning World and Olympic Champion. It will be interesting to see what colorway appears on the Olympic stage!
In recent years, most bike companies have been releasing new XC bikes following the trend of longer, lower, and slacker. However, the Pinarello Dogma XC is somewhat of an exception to this rule. While yes, it is longer and lower than a bike from two to three years ago, it has less travel and is on the less-progressive side of current bikes. This is a direct testament to this bike being designed for riders who are among the best bike handlers in the world. Pidcock is known for being a super-skilled rider on the road, in cyclocross and on an XC mountain bike. This means that unlike bikes made for us mere mortals, the Dogma XC features geometry meant to be fast, efficient, stiff, and snappy. The frame is designed around providing top-level stiffness and efficiency. Add in Pinarello's Asymmetric design and the bike is very unique. As polarizing as the looks might be, it has already proven its worth with World Cup and World Championship wins since its inception. The rider of this build decided to build his gold medal-worthy bike with components to match. The “Pure Gold” frame color pairs well with the new Fox Factory 32 Step-Cast, in its limited edition color, “Podium Gold”. Sram XX SL drivetrain takes care of the grunt work with vigor and dedication. Paired with DT Swiss XMC 1200 Spline carbon wheels, this bike has a stiff and responsive ride. Schwalbe Racing Rays provide an efficient roll while offering just enough grip for technical courses. Sram Level Ultimates provide all needed braking power for the demands of the modern XC race courses.
