West Canyon Road via Snow Canyon

If you're new to gravel riding, testing a bike, or simply want an easygoing ride with transcendental scenery, it's hard to beat this twelve mile out-and-back. Snow Canyon is an amazing ride in and of itself, and the West Canyon offshoot provides some easy gravel and a mild, yet sustained climb to the top.

All visitors to Snow Canyon State Park pay an entrance fee to enter the designated park boundaries. As of the time of writing, the fee is $5.00 for a group of 1 - 8 cyclists (if you ride in).

The Whiptail Trail is a paved recreational trail that parallels the main Snow Canyon Drive road. You can easily access the Whiptail Trail at the intersection of Snow Canyon Drive and Tuacahn Drive. From there you'll ease up smooth pavement into Snow Canyon State Park, intersecting with the West Canyon Road gravel trail about two miles later.

From there you'll enjoy an easy and beautiful four mile gravel climb up to the end of West Canyon Road, and a fun descent back down. If you want to enjoy the rest of Snow Canyon, the climb up to the north end of the park and descent back down is one of the country's most scenic and amazing rides.
