The 3T Discus C 45/40 Wheelset, initially designed for the Exploro, enhances the performance of any gravel bike, turning it into a speed machine. After extensive tunnel testing involving dozens of prototype wheels, the Discus 45 | 40 LTD was born. Similar to the Discus 45 | 32 LTD, the Discus 45 | 40 employs the NoseTail design, which condenses 60mm deep rim performance into a 45mm profile. Rim design inherently involves compromises since what's aerodynamic on the front half may not work as effectively when reversed. The NoseTail shape, developed by aerodynamics expert Dave Kennedy and 3T's Head of Design Gerard Vroomen, balances these compromises. It not only mitigates the performance trade-offs but also requires less rim depth while efficiently guiding rear wheel airflow onto the downtube.
